My name is Abbey, and I live in Scotland. I’m helping my friend, Noor, create this fundraiser on behalf of her father, Jawad. Noor, Jawad, and their family are in Gaza, and have lost many family members due to the occupation and siege on Gaza, including Noor’s husband, Mahmoud, who was killed by Israeli bombing last year. Their homes have been completely demolished and they are left with no resources to rebuild their lives. Noor wants to help her father raise money to rebuild their family home.
“My father, Jawad, is 71 years old and retired. He was an English teacher and a wonderful father to me and my four sisters. He worked hard his whole life to give us a good life. We had a happy home and a close family. But then the war in Gaza forced us to separate. My older sister and I had to leave our home and go south, while the rest of my family stayed in the north. They had to leave their home and everything they owned behind, hoping to return someday.

Sadly, when the war ended and they went back, their home was completely destroyed. They had no house, no car, nothing. My father, mother, and youngest sister were also injured and went hungry.

But thankfully, my father kept them safe. He is now retired and too old to rebuild what they lost. He also doesn’t have the financial resources to start over. I miss my family terribly and can’t wait to see them next week and give them a big hug.”
